Meet the Author & Creator of Nona’s World
I’m Novia Harrington, a 20-year U.S. Navy veteran and mother. For 16 years of my military career, I navigated military life as a single parent. During that time I also had to serve overseas and navigate the difficult situation of leaving my son in the care of friends and family. And it was tough for him to understand everything and be without me.
I wrote "Nona's Mommy In The Military" to help children who are dealing with separation from a parent, and to let them know that they are not alone. And I've created Nona’s World to help military children feel seen during moments that can feel confusing, lonely, or overwhelming — like deployments and moving.
These stories are rooted in real experiences of separation, resilience, and love.
